Is Holistic Methods Right for Me?
With the costs associated with health care reaching epic heights, people are increasingly seeking cost effective alternatives to modern medicine and medical practices. The broad spectrum of therapies that are covered under the umbrella of holistic health offer a wide selection of options to the over-priced, overmedicated solutions given by modern science and medicine. However, at this point, a majority of the people who are considering entering the realm of holistic therapy have more questions than answers.
Are holistic methods right for me? What is Holistic Therapy? What does holistic therapy include? What are the different types of Holistic therapies available? How much does Holistic medicine cost? Where can I find out more about Holistic Therapy?
These are some of the more common questions people ask while pondering the pros of delving into the hitherto unknown world of holism.
What is Holistic Therapy?
In the simplest terms, the term “holistic therapy” refers to a wide range of therapies and practices that seek to work collectively with the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of a person. Holistic Therapy believes that all parts of a person are and should be interconnected in order to create wellness and health of the whole being, not just one individual part of that whole.
What does Holistic Therapy involve?
Because holistic practices encompass several different types of healing techniques of different cultures, this can be a difficult question to answer appropriately. The single most important principle that is common to all holistic methods is the harmony of the mind, body and spirit.
Holistic therapies go beyond simply taking a pill and feeling better; they often involve such things as meditation, yoga, prayer or contemplation in combination with herbs, vitamins and other natural supplements. Each form of holism has its own school of thought and reasoning behind its methods yet via its emphasis on the interconnectedness of the body, mind and spirit is complimentary to each of the other methods.
What are the Different types of Holistic Therapies?
Under the umbrella of holistic therapy is a wide array of practices from all corners of the globe. Ayurveda, for example, is an ancient health care practice that began in the East Indian countries of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It was possibly the first organized health practice that used both surgery and medication and there are millions of people around the world who still practice and rely on it today.
Other forms of holism include yoga, Shamanism and Sufi Healing. From the centuries old medicinal wisdom of the Ancient Chinese to the spiritual guidance offered by the Kabbalah and Buddhist teachings, you are sure to find a holistic practice that resonates within you and just “makes sense” to you.
How do I find out more?
While you could spend hours pouring through books and periodicals at the library or wading through page upon page of Internet search engine results, The Center for Healing Arts has simplified the process of learning about the many types of holistic medicine by offering a subscription-based series of informative and instructional sessions on DVD.
With this program, subscribers have unprecedented access to a wide range of renowned experts in various fields of holistic healing, each one carefully selected based on their expertise, experience and heart qualities. Imagine being able to glean holistic information at your own pace in the privacy and comfort of your own home! And because each DVD session is divided into chapters, it is easy to take off from where you left off during the last session.
How much does Holistic Therapy cost?
The cost of holistic therapy depends largely on the form in which that particular therapy takes. Some forms of therapy will require specialized training while others might dictate that you pay an experienced practitioner to perform the therapy.
The practice of holism can be quite costly depending on a variety of factors. Seminars, retreats and other related educational costs can add up quickly, so it is important to do your research before you decide to pursue a particular holistic path for yourself. Most importantly it’s best to find the path that resonates most with you so it will be a joy to pursue.
