DOs and DON’Ts for sinus & ear infection?


Not feeling too well; I’m going to the doctor at 4, and they’ll probably prescribe me antibiotics, which I don’t do well with. I’d rather try alternative medicine. Any suggestions?
Oh and what are some things that might make me worse? I heard that calcium will help, but should I stay away from milk products?

You should always see your doctor, but you can also try garlic oil (open a capsule and pour it into your ear – lie down or put your head to one side) it will smell, just be aware of that, but garlic is an antiseptic amongst other things. Don’t mess with your hearing, you can end up with a perforated ear drum.

As far as your sinuses are concerned, there is a totally natural product available here in the UK, so I can’t imagine that something similar isn’t available in the USA, called Sterimar, it is a sea water spray for your nose and sinuses – absolutely brilliant!

The old standby of boiling water in a bowl (some tea tree or eucalyptus oil in the water helps) cover your head and the bowl with a towel, close your eyes, and breathe for 5-10 minutes (no longer, but don’t force it if you’ve had enough).

Take garlic capsules, echinacea (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off), try to eat more fruit and veg, fewer dairy products (live yoghurt is ok).

There is a lot more, but if its connected to your bad ear, then hopefully it will resolve itself with these simple measures
